He is an award-winning investigative journalist whose work appears in The Guardian, The Intercept, and various other publications. In 2017, a 15-part series he co-authored on the Indigenous-led struggle against the Dakota Access Pipeline was voted by readers of The Intercept as "The Most Essential Journalism of the Year." His writing has also appeared in the volumes Beyond Arms Control: Choices and Challenges for Nuclear Disarmament (2010), Standing with Standing Rock: Voices from the #NoDAPL Movement (2019), and Build Resistance, Not Walls: A Reader for a World Without Walls (2019).
